Photoshop is a supermodel’s best friend, along with a good agent and weird diets. But Vogue may have gone too far with the cover of its March issue. Intended to be a “Girl Power” piece, most of the buzz instead fell on Gigi Hadid’s awkwardly elongated arm, covering plus-sized model Ashley Graham’s waist. As the old adage goes, “You can fool all the people some of the time, but good luck getting anything past Social.” “Hand” is driving the Vibe around the magazine cover, and “Vogue + Cover” gets 61 percent negative sentiment on Social. It’s not the only thing bugging social media about the cover, either. The magazine’s celebration of diversity looks more like a “who’s who” of Vogue regulars, and even minority representatives like Imaan Hammam and Adwoa Aboah have skin tones in the same ballpark as Hadid and Kendall Jenner. It looks like Social is saying that the only groundbreaking thing on Vogue’s cover is the size of its missed opportunity.
