During the presidential campaign, Donald Trump warned that Mexico was sending its worst and stealing American jobs, and he vowed to annihilate the radical Islamic group ISIS. But in his rhetoric, one potential enemy arguably loomed larger than the rest: China. With its giant market and industrial power, China has become the most serious challenger to U.S. economic hegemony since Japan in the 1980s. It's little wonder that Trump focused on this trade rival (he’s been warning about the unfair ways it competes for years), and since taking office, he's ramped up efforts to be tough on China. In fact, top adviser Steve Bannon touted a trade weapon the President could use in a Wednesday interview with The American Prospect, which he claims was off-the-record. Section 301 of the US Trade Act of 1974 would allow the Trump to impose tariffs on Chinese imports without congressional approval, and Bannon said that it’s Trump’s ace in the hole. "To me," Bannon said, "the economic war with China is everything. And we have to be maniacally focused on that.” But if Trump is gearing up for a trade war with China, Social isn't enlisting.” Trump + Trade + China” gets 73 percent negative sentiments. Looks like Social likes its Chinese imports. –Hugo Guzman
