Like a fine wine, The Big Lebowski only gets better with time. The oddball comedy turned 20 years old this week, and that milestone mattering to anyone probably would have come as a surprise to the Coen brothers, who wrote, directed, and produced the film in 1998. Back then, The Big Lebowski got a bland reception. It brought in around $18 million domestically (plus $28 million internationally) at the box office, which hardly qualified it as a smash hit. But Jeff Bridges’s eccentric performance as The Dude -- with a major assist from John Goodman as Walter Sobchak -- stuck with viewers well after the movie was out of theaters, eventually turning it into a cult classic. Rotten Tomatoes has gathered a spattering of critic reviews over the past two decades, and they give Lebowski and company an 81 percent fresh score. As it turns out, that’s roughly in line with how Social feels as well. Over the past 30 days, “The Big Lebowski” has a 79 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
