A Republican group effort in Congress and the White House led to passage of the most substantial tax bill in decades, and as per usual, President Trump wants the world to recognize the part he played in it all. The New York Times reported that Trump opted to sign the bill on Friday morning instead of waiting until shortly after the New Year because he had been watching television coverage questioning whether he would get it done before Christmas as he had originally promised. He also tweeted, “With all my Administration has done on Legislative Approvals (broke Harry Truman’s Record), Regulation Cutting, Judicial Appointments, Building Military, VA, TAX CUTS & REFORM, Record Economy/Stock Market and so much more, I am sure great credit will be given by mainstream news?” Of course, it’s unclear if Trump will ultimately want to take full credit for the tax bill. After saying for months that the plan was bad for the wealthy and would hurt his personal finances, POTUS apparently told some friends at Mar-a-Lago that they “all just got a lot richer,” which isn’t going to make many Americans happy. Over the last three days, “Tax Bill + Trump” has a 59 percent positive score on Social, while “Tax Bill + Congress” has a 66 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
