Special Counsel Robert Mueller might be one of the most renowned prosecutors in America, but that doesn’t mean he is without critics, especially since he is leading the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russia. Republicans have been tearing into him for weeks, with some saying he needs to spend less time chasing Russian leads and instead turn his attention to Hillary Clinton. Even former allies are abandoning Mueller. "The last couple of weeks have not been good," Rep. Trey Gowdy said. Gowdy is the House Oversight Chairman and a member of the House Intelligence Committee, and he led an investigation into the 2012 attack on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, that happened while Clinton was Secretary of State. Earlier this year he urged fellow Republicans to give Mueller a chance. Now he’s echoing the sentiments on social media about Mueller’s time running out. And Social gives the Special Counsel 70 percent negatives. Does that mean Mueller’s chance to get to the bottom of Russian interference in Election 2016 is slipping away? Not likely. Although some loud voices are attempting to discredit the probe and Mueller, his low numbers have another culprit: the Russia investigation itself. Negative language associated with it abounds, and every time someone questions the President’s integrity or more questionable behavior is revealed, Mueller suffers a bit of blowback. It is that factor more than GOP heat that may be dragging down Mueller’s numbers. –Hugo Guzman
