In a political culture more polarized than ever, many a pundit and commentator has started looking for an alternative to the Red-Blue divide that dominates government and so often sabotages efforts to accomplish the people’s business. Some have turned to third parties, but one new idea has set off a lot of chatter. Last week, a split ticket, joining together Republican Governor John Kasich of Ohio and Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper of Colorado, was rumored to be in the works for 2020, according to CNN. Social certainly likes the idea, giving “Kasich + Hickenlooper” 72 percent positive sentiments. But the split-ticket has one serious opponent: Kasich himself. "The answer is no,” Kasich told NBC's Chuck Todd on Meet the Press Sunday morning. Kasich joked about how the team-up would never fit on a bumper sticker but also noted his dismay at the reaction to pols from opposing parties actually working together. “You know, sometimes people actually do things because they're trying to help somebody. And when we do that everybody ought not to say, ‘Well, what's in it for them?’ This growing cynicism eats at the fabric of the spirit of our country,” he said. Kasich and Hickenlooper have led efforts to expand Medicaid in their states and have both called for a bipartisan approach to health care. Kasich, one of the GOP candidates defeated by Donald Trump, said that his focus is on building bridges -- not running for President again. –Hugo Guzman
