U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has faced the House Judiciary Committee several times this past year, fielding questions from members of Congress on everything from Hillary Clinton’s supposedly shady (and possibly non-existent) involvement in a uranium deal to President Donald Trump’s campaign and its alleged collusion with Russian agents. Faced with such dizzying barrages, anyone’s memory might falter, but the AG’s forgetfulness seems unusually high for an official whose job requires keeping facts straight. Last month, Sessions claimed that no Trump campaign surrogates had met with Russian representatives in 2016. But former Trump foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos has said that Sessions was at a March 2016 meeting in which Papadopoulos’ Russia connections were discussed. When Democrats questioned Sessions about the meeting at a Tuesday hearing, he said he now recalls being there but does not remember the details of what Papadopoulos said. Social certainly hasn’t forgotten how to bring its fury to bear against Trump allies, especially when their excuses don’t add up. Sessions’ memory problems get 95 percent negative sentiments, with many thinking that he’s outright lying. –Hugo Guzman
