Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James is still almost universally considered the best all-around player in the NBA, but Houston Rockets guard James Harden is poised to win this year’s MVP award, and Harden is also crushing it on Social. “The Beard,” as he’s affectionately known, has Houston up 1-0 over the Minnesota Timberwolves in their postseason matchup after dropping 44 points on Sunday night. Harden’s Rockets went an NBA-best 65-17 during the regular season, and he put up an absurd stat line: 30.4 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game. Harden also getting the full GQ treatment, appearing on the cover of the magazine’s most recent issue. James, meanwhile, managed to play all 82 games for the Cavs at 33 years of age while averaging 27.5 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.6 rebounds. His team wasn’t as impressive as usual though. Cleveland trudged along to a 50-32 record, good for fourth in the Eastern Conference. And in a shocker, the Cavs lost Game One of their series to the Indiana Pacers, 98-80. Over the past seven days, LeBron James has a 52 percent positive score on Social, while James Harden is all the way up to 65 percent positive. –Alex Shultz
