What was expected to be an intense, unsettled NFL free agency period with star quarterbacks holding up the rest of the market is instead looking like a relatively straightforward series of transactions. Former Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins is reportedly set to sign with the Minnesota Vikings this week on a three-year deal worth $86 million all guaranteed. Cousins threw for 4,093 yards and 27 touchdowns last season, and at 29, he has plenty of years of decent football left. Over the last 14 days, he has a 63 percent positive score on Social. The 39-year-old Drew Brees doesn’t have time on his side anymore, but he’s still highly effective, and the New Orleans Saints made sure he didn’t flirt with other teams by preemptively agreeing to re-sign him to a two-year, $50 million deal right before free agency officially began. Brees has a 62 percent positive score over the last 14 days. Another coveted gunslinger, Case Keenum, led the Vikings to the NFC title game but was left behind in their pursuit of Cousins. Now, Keenum is apparently off to Denver to try and lead the Broncos back to the postseason. He’s no Cousins or Brees, but he’s close, with a 59 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
