Deshaun Watson almost assuredly won’t hear his name announced with the first overall picks of the 2017 NFL Draft, but when and by whom the quarterback gets selected is likely to be the story of the three-day event that begins Apr. 27. Watson is fresh off orchestrating a 14-1 season for the Clemson Tigers, which culminated in a come-from-behind 35-31 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the national championship game. That avenged Clemson’s previous season, which ended in a heartbreaking loss to the same Alabama team. Watson was a Heisman finalist twice and most recently threw for 4,593 yards, 41 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while rushing for an additional 629 yards and nine scores. There are concerns about his high turnover ratio, but he’s still expected to be a first-round pick for a team that either needs a quarterback now or could use one in the near future, like the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans and New York Jets. Over the last 90 days, Watson is pulling in a respectable 65 percent positive score on 30dB after removing negative references to Deshaun being tossed out of an Alabama bar for his National Championship win.
