Entering the 2017 NFL season, few expected the Philadelphia Eagles to be one of the best teams in football, and even fewer thought Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz would be an MVP candidate. But over the past six weeks, that’s exactly what has happened, with Wentz emerging as the National Football Conference’s most popular QB on Social, sporting a 72 percent positive score over the last 30 days. Wentz has racked up 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions, giving Philadelphia a 5-1 record. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is off to a surprising start as well. He has the second-best NFC mark with a 67 percent positives. Other gunslingers sporting respectable positive ratings include Washington’s Kirk Cousins (60 percent), Dallas Cowboys second-year pro Dak Prescott (52 percent) and Seattle Seahawks dual-threat Russell Wilson (51 percent). New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is having a statistically solid season, but has a 49 percent positive score, and last year’s MVP, Matt Ryan, has fallen to 46 percent positive on 30dB. They’re outpacing Detroit Lions QB Matt Stafford (41 percent), Eli Manning of the miserable New York Giants (33 percent), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers starter Jameis Winston (30 percent), who suffered a sprained shoulder last week. In last place is Carolina Panther Cam Newton, whose 26 percent score is in large part because of an offensive remarks he made to a female reporter at a recent press conference. –Alex Shultz
