Broncos fans might’ve thought they had gotten rid of Brock Osweiler, but he’s back from football purgatory—also known as the Cleveland Browns—to play in Denver again. Osweiler, who was cut by Cleveland last week, signed with the Broncos on Monday and will assume a backup role with his former team. Osweiler was briefly the starter for the franchise in 2015, when Denver rode one of the best defenses of all time to a Super Bowl victory over the Carolina Panthers. A hobbled Peyton Manning ultimately started that game, but the job was presumed to be Osweiler’s moving forward. Instead, he bolted to Houston, where he had one miserable season with the Texans in which he threw for 2,957 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. Houston packaged the quarterback with a future second-round pick and shipped him to Cleveland in the offseason, and the Browns decided they’d rather cut him and be on the hook for the majority of his contract (they’ll pay $15.25 million this year while Denver will pay $775,000) than keep him on the roster. Despite the tumultuous last few years, Osweiler is mostly just ecstatic about getting a fresh start. “Being back here [Monday], practicing as a Bronco, being here at Dove Valley, probably top five, if not three, day of my life," Osweiler said this week. Over the last 30 days, he’s got an underwhelming 31 percent positive score on Social.--Alex Shultz
