In another era, Andrew Wheeler would probably be a surprising pick to be deputy administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Wheeler has spent years lobbying against climate change policy and the regulation of greenhouse gas emissions for companies such as coal producer Murray Energy, but he now finds himself helping to helm the EPA. He was confirmed on Thursday as EPA chief Scott Pruitt fields scandals that threaten to end his tenure at the agency. If Pruitt falls, Wheeler could end up taking the top desk. Social media users are less than enthused about that prospect, giving Wheeler 70 percent negative sentiments. Ironically, Wheeler may not be a bad pick from an administrative point of view. His first job was at the EPA back in the 90s. During that time, he worked on toxic chemical, pollution prevention, and right-to-know issues. But whatever he was doing back then, it's a far cry from what the Wheeler has come to stand for, which is dead-on climate change denial. –Hugo Guzman
