Since the onset of Donald Trump’s presidency, he’s been able to hold on to a core of support no matter what he does. But over the last 30 days, Social is indicating that his so-called base might be losing hope ever so slightly. The Twitter handle @realDonaldTrump has proven to be a more accurate reading of what people are saying about POTUS than the search term “Donald Trump,” and it has been on a downward spiral. On Sept. 19, Trump's handle had a 40.7 percent positive score, which climbed to a high of 44.3 percent on Sept. 22. But that night, at a rally in Alabama, Trump launched into a tirade about NFL players, saying anyone who doesn’t stand for the national anthem is a “son of a bitch” who should be fired. The next day, he dropped to 35 percent positive and floated around that figure for the next few weeks. By Oct. 12, he’d taken another dip to 28.4 percent positive, and save for a quick hop back into the mid-30s three days later, he’s remained near or below the 30 percent mark. His most recent controversy about a condolence call to the family of a Green Beret killed in Niger—and whether former Presidents have called the families of fallen soldiers—is unlikely to help matters. –Alex Shultz
