In the wake of the events in Charlottesville, Black-ish actress Yara Shahidi has been making her voice heard, earning almost universal approval. The teenager, who’s set to star in a Black-ish spinoff show called College-ish next year, gave a poignant interview on the red carpet of the Teen Choice Awards this week. “It’s such an example and personification of hate in a way that hasn’t been seen in such a long time,” Shahidi said of the white supremacy rally that led to the death of a counter protestor, along with dozens of other injuries. “We’ve had these instances throughout the years in which you see unarmed black men being killed … in which we are aware of the racism that still exists. But to see an entire rally and protest centered around the idea of an entire race being inferior, and centered around this idea of hate, is all so insane.” Shahidi has been equally as outspoken on Social, and over the last three days, @YaraShahidi has a 95 percent positive score, with words driving the vibe including “positive,” “powerful” and “amazing.” --Alex Shultz
