The United States might be a country of immigrants, but conservative commentator Tomi Lahren seems not to have gotten the memo. On Saturday's "Watters’ World" installment on Fox News, Lahren defended White House chief of staff John Kelly’s controversial NPR comments saying that the majority of immigrants do not "integrate well." Lahren said that the United States is not a country based on people "not understanding the language," but she may have wanted to check her own family history before taking that stand. According to genealogist Jennifer Mendelsohn, Lahren's ancestors include German immigrants who spoke no English for decades after arriving, and a great-great-grandfather once accused of forging naturalization papers, though he was later acquitted. Lahren snapped back, telling "Fox and Friends" on Tuesday that all Mendelsohn did was prove her ancestors came here legally. Social media users say all Lahren proved with that comeback was that she missed the point. Lahren gets 74 percent negative opinions on Twitter, with many users calling her comments "ignorant."
