Two famous fiftysomething white guys have been duking it out on their respective TV shows and on Twitter to the amusement of very few. ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and Fox News pundit Sean Hannity have been engaged in a war of words that began last Monday when Kimmel made fun of First Lady Melania Trump’s accent during a clip of her reading to kids on Easter. Hannity fired back, calling Kimmel a “despicable disgrace,” and eventually elevated the feud by nicknaming his new arch-nemesis “Harvey Weinstein Jr.,” a reference to an old sketch in which women grabbed Kimmel's crotch. Hannity wasn’t done. On Friday, he said Kimmel was a “sick, twisted, perverted, creepy weirdo,” which, as Kimmel later pointed out, is an interesting attack coming from someone who openly supports President Trump (accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen women) and also backed Roy Moore (credibly accused of molestation). Kimmel has been criticized for some of his retorts because he resorted to what some saw as homophobic language to “zing” Hannity, who has mostly been responding with barely coherent tweets, promised to continue the verbal sparring until Kimmel apologizes for his bit about Melania Trump. Kimmel sort of did that on Sunday afternoon. Perhaps Kimmel read the Twitter tea leaves as over the past five days, @JimmyKimmel has 20 percent positives, while @SeanHannity has 35 percent. –Alex Shultz
