President Trump's July 4th Salute to America was intended to show up the great military parades of Europe and sketchy autocrats across the globe but missed its target according to social media. The event was chided by some as politicizing the celebration of American independence, which has traditionally been a political DMZ, and for wasting the taxpayer's money, while others welcomed the spectacle as a show of America's military prowess. The uncooperative weather was too low of hanging fruit for many on social who could not resist making the obvious raining on Trump's parade parallels. However, the spectacle also had a very real impact on the host. The Mayor of D.C. has released findings that police and security for the event and protestor events has drained the District of its fund to protect public events and defend against potential terrorist attacks. District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser has asked the Trump administration for help in replenishing the security fund which is likely to run dry before the end of the fiscal year. Nothing yet from the Party Planner-in-Chief. Overall, social media saw the event as dud pulling a measly 37 percent positives over the event and the ensuing days.
