How It Works
It’s not really magic but a handful of big brains who have figured out a really efficient way to boil the ocean – or at least a big chunk of it. We take in social media posts from sources like Twitter, Facebook, blogs and Google+ and identify just about every topic of discussion out there and the co-occurring topics being discussed with those topics. We then determine the sentiment for all of these. Yes, this is a crazy amount of information but we’re able to turn the buzz of social media into high value opinion information for the world to use.
Users can query just about any topic of discussion in social media. And since our application focuses on opinions just about our only limitation is a post needs to contain an opinion about something. This means “heading to the groomer to get Snuffles washed” won’t make the cut in our world. This post is still important to Snuffles, and more likely Snuffles’ owner, but we’re all about opinions so no offense but we’re not going to use up electrons to process these kinds of posts.
We divide the world up into topics and sentiment. As you can see in 30dB in Action you can drill into co-occurring topics via the horizontal slider below the towers or trend lines and or view posts with sentiment language of interest via the sentiment cloud behind the results. Click away. And if you get shut out when trying a topic, please let us know at topics@30dB.com. Topics will undoubtedly slip between the cracks so if you’d like to send us one we’ve missed, we’d appreciate it.
Users can query our data either via our site 30dB.com or via an embedded widget anywhere on the Internet. Most of the widgets embedded out there in the ether are live, which means if you want to drill in further into the query and add co-occurring topics, knock yourself out. If you want to switch topics completely and start all over with something of more importance to you, do so, most of the widgets are completely live for you.
