Trivia games are 10 a penny these days, with old favorites like Words With Friends and Trivia Crack still dominating the scene. But a new game has been making waves recently by offering real cash prizes to its top winners. With an Android version soon to launch, HQ Trivia is set to be the killer app of the mobile gaming world. Most games, which are broadcast live twice a day and hosted by comedian Scott Rogowsky, carry jackpots of about $1,000, which are split between the winners. But Christmas Day saw 730,000 people compete for a holiday jackpot totaling $12,000 dollars. The game is currently available only for iOS, but creators Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll (both Vine alums) said Tuesday that the Android version is expected out by New Year’s Day. Despite boasting hundreds of thousands of users, HQ Trivia can claim only 39 percent positives in the online conversation: Some 61 percent of social media users are miffed at everything from lags and glitches to getting tough questions wrong. –Hugo Guzman
