Last Friday, President Trump couldn’t help but call out an interview with CNN host Don Lemon and NBA superstar LeBron James in which James said he would never sit face-to-face with the current Commander-in-Chief. Trump—who apparently doesn’t have anything better to do— tweeted: "Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do. I like Mike!” The next day, Melania Trump’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, more or less broke ranks with POTUS. She put out a statement on behalf of FLOTUS reading: “It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the First Lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today.” Although that’s not exactly a condemnation of President Trump questioning the intelligence of yet another well-known black person, it is at least noteworthy. According to The Daily Beast, the First Lady’s office only rarely gives a heads up to the President’s office before putting out statements. Social—as conflicted as it is about Melania—likes what she had to say in this case. Over the past three days, “Melania Trump + LeBron James” has a 77 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
