Despite his victory, Donald Trump alleged Democratic voter fraud in the 2016 presidential election, claiming that illegal immigrants and non-citizens cast ballots for Hillary Clinton, who won the popular vote by a landslide (a margin of almost 3 million). To look into what most observers saw as an allegation without a shred of evidence, Trump launched the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, with Vice-President Mike Pence as chairman and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach as vice-chairman. It was disbanded earlier this year after a majority of states refused to cooperate with its requests for data. Last week, Kobach, who is a candidate for governor, was in federal court defending a tough Kansas law he helped craft that removed as many as 35,000 citizens from voter rolls. He was repeatedly humiliated in his attempts to demonstrate that a pervasive problem of voter fraud exists – even by experts his side called to testify. Kobach was given a tongue-lashing by U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson for failing adequately to comply with a previous order she issued directing Kansas to notify voters denied privileges that their rights had been restored. And he was lambasted by Social, too, which gives him 83 percent negatives. –Hugo Guzman
