Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been everything from “America’s Toughest Sheriff” to guilty of criminal contempt. Now the new thing he's adding to his resume is “Senate candidate”? Since receiving a pardon from President Donald Trump for being convicted of criminal contempt (he defied a court order to cease profiling illegal imigrants, among other charges), Arpaio has launched a campaign for the Senate seat in Arizona that Republican Senator Jeff Flake is walking away from. Arpaio’s candidacy has been about as well received on Social as his headline-making exploits of the past. He's being called a "criminal" and "disgraced," which gives him 76 percent negative sentiments online. For anyone wondering if Arpaio would moderate his tone after launching the campaign, he has shown that he won't disappoint. On Wednesday, Arpaio appeared on CNN and insisted that Barack Obama's birth certificate was fake. "We have the evidence. No one will talk about it. Nobody will look at it," Arpaio told news anchor Chris Cuomo. –Hugo Guzman
