President Trump has long decried what he believes is a coordinated effort by the media to report on his Administration in a derogatory way. To that end, Trump tweeted on Wednesday: “The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake). Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?” Putting aside that First Amendment threat, Trump’s characterization of all those negative stories as fake news – the number comes from a report by the right-wing watchdog Media Research Center -- it appears that the President’s perceived enemies aren’t actually much more negative than his friends at Fox News. Over the past 30 days, Social sees 30 percent of CNN’s coverage when discussing POTUS as positive in nature. Meanwhile, Fox News, which features a host of pundits who are regularly complimented by Trump, is seen as has been putting out positive stories about the President 35 percent of the time over the same period. In other words, according to Social, Fox News is delivering only slightly more upbeat coverage of the President than CNN. –Alex Shultz
