After repeatedly threatening to pull out of the multi-nation nuclear agreement with Iran, President Trump formally pulled trigger on Tuesday. Trump has despised the deal since it was signed in 2015 and reaffirmed that position when he blew it up, saying it was “horrible,” “one-sided,” and “defective at its core.” His decision was met with disapproval by the other signees of the pact, which reduced sanctions against Iran in exchange for putting limits in place to prevent the Iranian government from creating nuclear weapons. The U.S. will reinstate sanctions in the coming months, and any companies doing business with the Middle Eastern country will have a grace period to end their arrangements or be subject to “severe consequences.” Though POTUS was quick to denounce the Iran deal, he hasn’t provided any firm reasoning to defend a move that many believe is just his latest effort to undo an Obama-era achievement. After Trump’s press conference on Tuesday, a reporter asked him how safer this makes America. His response was: “Thank you very much. This will make America safer.” Over the past day, “Trump + Iran Deal” has just a 22 percent positive score on Twitter. –Alex Shultz
