Superfoods and fad diets are social media passions, but one new nutritional innovation is getting no love online. Derived from crystals produced by the Pacific beetle cockroach to feed its young, cockroach milk first hit the scene in 2016 when Indian scientists said that essential amino acids and proteins could be found in the crystals and turned into a superfood drink. It went viral after the announcement, and now cockroach milk is trending again as more companies start to sell it to health fanatics all over the world. However, the fact that cockroach milk is available does not mean anyone is buying. On Twitter, cockroach milk gets 61 percent negative opinions, with many calling it "nasty" and "disgusting," even if it really is the Next Big Thing. “Yes, there will be people who think [insects] are icky or have a yuck factor," Jarrod Goldin of Canadian producer Entomo Farms told Global News. "But the ingredients are so versatile." –Hugo Guzman
