Democrats must no doubt feel cheated when it comes to Supreme Court nominations. Republicans stalled and blocked their shot at confirming President Barack Obama's pick for Justice Antonin Scalia's vacant seat in 2016 and instead installed Justice Neil Gorsuch. Now, President Donald Trump could double his conservative appointments thanks to Justice Anthony Kennedy's impending retirement. Trump's pick will likely be a strict constructionist, but one possible nominee is already making liberals across the country sweat. Amy Coney Barrett, a federal appellate judge of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, is one of three finalists. Barrett has dominated headlines for the past week after a combative Senate hearing that saw Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin (Ill.) and Dianne Feinstein (Calif.) interrogate the judge about her Catholic faith. Barrett has also won fans within the GOP for having argued that Roe v. Wade could be overturned and that the birth control benefit in the Affordable Care Act impinges on religious liberty. Democratic distaste for Barrett, along with strong religious principles, have Twitter users split, but 54 percent are willing to cut her some slack. –Hugo Guzman
