During Monday’s College Football Championship game between Georgia and Alabama, one team’s kicker made a kick in the clutch, while the other bricked it. Ultimately, however, neither field goal attempt decided the game. For Alabama kicker Andy Pappanastos, that’s a good thing—he missed a 36-yard boot as time expired in the fourth quarter with a chance to give the Crimson Tide the championship. It was his second miss in four tries and after Georgia kicker Rodrigo Blankenship nailed a 51-yard field goal at the onset of overtime, it appeared as though Pappanastos was going to have a tough time showing his face on campus again. But he was bailed out by freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who tossed a 41-yard score to seal a 26-23 victory over the Bulldogs. Anger towards Pappanastos didn’t totally subside, but he’s doing better on Social than one might think: His Twitter handle has a 50 percent positive score with light volume, while “Alabama Kicker” has a 44 percent positive score over the last day. –Alex Shultz
