On Monday, First Lady Melania Trump held a rare public event in which she touted her first initiative, entitled “Be Best.” Essentially, it’s a call to protect children, especially online. The exact details are a little fuzzy, but FLOTUS wants a renewed focus on well-being and social media usage, in addition to fighting back against the epidemic of opioid addiction. She said it concerns her that “in today’s fast-paced and ever-connected world, children can be less prepared to express or manage their emotions and oftentimes turn to forms of destructive or addictive behavior such as bullying, drug addiction, or even suicide.” It’s hard to disagree with any of those concerns, and the First Lady’s office released a “Be Best” pamphlet to offer tips and advice for parents and kids alike. As it turns out, the pamphlet is basically a repurposed version of a 2014 report released by the Federal Trade Commission. Buzzfeed’s Ryan Mac noted some of the only alterations came with the graphics in the pamphlet, which were updated to reflect the new designs of smartphones. Still, Melania Trump’s relative popularity seems to be enough to keep the launch of her not-very-original initiative afloat: Over the past day, #BeBest has a 73 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
