Few cities in world history have been as hotly contested as Jerusalem. Locus of some of the holiest sites of three major world religions and officially the capital of Israel, Jerusalem is also claimed by Palestinians. Internationally, the legal status of Jerusalem remains in question, but President Donald Trump made his sentiments on the subject clear late last year when he announced that the American Embassy in Israel would move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. On Monday, protests in Gaza, where most Palestinians live, turned deadly as the new embassy opened with Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner among the U.S. officials on hand. As Ivanka gushed, Israeli army forces killed 58 protesters, according to AP, with thousands more injured in clashes along the border. The Trump Administration blamed Palestinian Islamist group Hamas for the deaths, but many on social media say the fault lies with Trump's "huge mistake" in moving the embassy. The Jerusalem move saw 66 percent negative opinions online after the embassy opened. –Hugo Guzman
