It’s been a full 16 months since the last Westworld episode -- an eternity by TV standards -- but the HBO hit finally made its triumphant return over the weekend. Season Two’s 70-minute opener was entitled “Journey Into Night,” and though Variety says the first few minutes were far too full of the “pseudo-philosophical gobbledygook dialog” that plagued Season One, most reviews agree there was some much-needed emphasis on plot this time around. Without delving into spoilers, Jeffrey Wright’s character Bernard was featured early and often, and there was plenty more of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) as well. Rotten Tomatoes critics weighed in on the Season Two premiere by gifting it an 89 percent fresh score, but Social is feeling a little less generous, giving “Westworld” 65 percent positives over the past day. Social’s reaction -- which includes sentiments like “confused” and “confounding” -- is in line with some so-so viewership numbers. Three million people tuned in on Sunday, which was actually slightly fewer than watched the Season One opener. –Alex Shultz
