You can expect to see more funny faces in public spaces soon. Snap has long been on the forefront of augmented reality, often abbreviated to "AR," but last week the creators of Snapchat released Snappables, AR games playable through the app that employ touch, motion, and facial movements. Snappables are the company's latest foray into AR, joining the "ShopNow" marketing tool as part of Snap's innovation in this field. While Snappables will definitely lead to some goofy looking expressions, for social media users that’s a good thing not a bug. Snapchat's AR efforts get 88 percent positive opinions. Those are not bad numbers, especially since AR might be Snap's big bet after a lousy quarter. According to an earnings report on Tuesday, Snap missed revenue estimates in Q1 and its user base hasn't been growing. After a disastrous redesign in February turned off advertisers, Snap has much ground to make up with its AR endeavors. –Hugo Guzman
