Hollywood's #MeToo movement has galvanized millions around the world to stand against sexual misconduct, no matter who the perpetrators, but that doesn't mean the movement is without critics. From Woody Allen, who warned that "witch-hunts" were on the way, to feminist icon Margaret Atwood, who argued that due process should apply to the movement, there's no shortage of celebrities willing to go against the flow. The latest is actor Sean Penn, who released his novel Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff in late March and used its epilogue to rail against #MeToo. "This infantilizing term of the day… Is this a toddler's crusade?" Penn asks in a poem in the epilogue. "Reducing rape, slut-shaming, and suffrage to reckless child's play?" Critics have no love for the novel, which The Irish Times called "repellent and stupid." The Guardian asked whether Sean Penn was the most unbearable actor in the world, and social media users aren't much nicer about both the book and Penn himself . Penn got 61 percent negative sentiments online over the weekend, and that's not likely to improve as more people read the novel. –Hugo Guzman
