Last week, Social was aghast after hearing that Fox wouldn’t be renewing Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a sixth season. In Fox’s defense, the cop comedy isn’t bringing in monster numbers—it’s averaging around 3 million viewers per episode in Season Five, which is 16 million fewer than The Big Bang Theory, according to the website Vulture. But Brooklyn Nine-Nine does have a dedicated following, plus two Golden Globes to its name, and within 24 hours of Fox’s announcement, NBC had swooped in to save the day. As part of his victory lap, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement, “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I've regretted letting it get away, and it's high time it came back to its rightful home.” Cast members including Andy Samberg, Chelsea Peretti, Melissa Fumero, and Terry Crews tweeted their excitement about being rescued from TV sitcom limbo, though the news does come with a catch: Season Six will be only 13 episodes, a significant drop from the usual 22 or 23 of the past. Social will take what it can get. Over the past three days, “NBC + #Brooklyn99” has a 91 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
