The White House Correspondents' Dinner has always often featured uncomfortable roasts of political figures, but many online and in the media say that this year's event jumped the shark. Comedian Michelle Wolf took to the podium on Saturday night and offered some harsh comedy that was particularly rough on Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Wolf directly called Sanders a liar and accused her of being a disappointment to other women. She also took aim at news organizations, congratulating CNN for "breaking" news reporting about itself and warning women to cover their drinks around Fox News employees. The White House Correspondents Assn. was quick to disavow her, with President Margaret Talev saying the act was not "in the spirit" of the organization’s mission. "Last night's program was meant to offer a unifying message about our common commitment to a vigorous and free press while honoring civility, great reporting and scholarship winners, not to divide people," Talev said in a statement. Social is slower to condemn. Wolf split social media users, with 51 percent supporting her comments, and 49 percent calling them below the belt. –Hugo Guzman
