With the #MeToo movement having taken the Golden Globes by storm, and Black Panther being one of the most anticipated films of the year thanks to its all-star (and all-black) leads, it seems as though minorities are finally seeing the clouds part over the Hollywood Hills. Doubters need look no further than Jordan Peele's seminal horror film, Get Out, which has been nominated in four Oscar categories by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Get Out, which tells the tale of a young black man who makes a terrifying discovery after his white girlfriend takes him home to meet the parents, is in the running for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Director. If it were up to Social, Peele would certainly take home the little golden guy for his directorial debut. His Twitter feed went gone crazy after the nomination announcement, with fellow netizens congratulating him and handing him an envelope containing 93 percent positive sentiments. –Hugo Guzman
