The season finale of The Bachelor or Bachelorette usually concludes with two people falling in love and getting engaged. Whether that love ultimately lasts is an entirely different story, but the show is at least set up to provide viewers with a fairy tale ending. This season of The Bachelor didn’t exactly follow the usual script. The 36-year-old Arie Luyendyk Jr. is now engaged, but most of Twitter hates how he got to that point. Luyendyk Jr., a race car driver and son of the elder Arie, who won the Indianapolis 500 twice, narrowed his Bachelor search to Becca Kufrin and Lauren Burnham. He proposed to Kufrin on national television, then decided to break up with her on national television shortly afterwards. His insistence on hanging around Kufrin as she grieved, all while dozens of cameras surrounded them, hit the Internet the wrong way. Luyendyk Jr. later returned to Burnham, who took him back, and the two are set to get married. They aren’t going to do so with the blessing of social media, though: Over the past day, @ArieJr has a 26 percent positive score. –Alex Shultz
