Good news for potentially pregnant women: Rather than buying a traditional test at CVS, you can now urinate on an Ikea magazine ad to see if you’re expecting. The bizarre promotion is in a Swedish publication called Amelia. It reads, “Peeing on this ad may change your life,” with a space marked specifically for women to, well, have a whiz. If they’re pregnant, secret messages on the page are revealed, with special discounted pricing on items like cribs for Ikea Family members. There’s been some concern that taking a urine-colored page to Ikea to obtain a discount is a little gross for all parties involved, but as it turns out, that’s unnecessary. Adweek spoke to Ikea creative chief Magnus Jakobsson, who confirmed the ad—which he says was in development for around a year—isn’t meant to be used as a coupon because anyone can apply for an Ikea Family discount if they're expecting. He said: “Reminding consumers about the fact that you can get a better price with the Ikea Family discount in a creative and unusual way, isn’t really that controversial, when you think about it.” Over the last seven days, “Ikea Ad” has a 74 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
