As the Major League Baseball season approaches its midway point, two teams that missed the playoffs last year sit atop their respective league standings. The Houston Astros are the club to beat in the American League, amassing a 44-20 record to date. That’s already a full 12 games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels, their closest division rival in the AL West. Houston benefits from one of the best pitchers in all of baseball, Dallas Keuchel. The frontrunner for the Cy Young Award has compiled a 9-0 record with a 1.67 Earned Run Average. Meanwhile, in the National League, the surprising Colorado Rockies have surged to a 41-24 start. Colorado hasn’t finished the regular season with a winning record since 2010 and hasn’t made the playoffs since 2009. The Rockies will have to hold off a much tougher group of competitors in their division, including the 39-25 Los Angeles Dodgers. So far, they've been clutch when it counts, thanks to closer Greg Holland and his MLB-leading 23 saves. Over the last 30 days the Astros are more popular than the Rockies on Social, sporting a 67 percent positive score compared with Colorado’s 61 percent.
